A WOMAN fears she may have been the victim of identity theft after two full bags of rubbish were taken from her wheelie bin.

The Peacehaven resident told The Argus that the rubbish was taken from the wheelie bin outside her house in Seaview Avenue overnight between July 24 and July 25. She was concerned they might have been targeted for identity theft.

However, PC Anna Batchelor, of Sussex Police, said: “This is an isolated incident and, although the motive for the theft is not clear, there is no evidence to suggest that they were stolen for identity theft purposes.

“However, we would still like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area that night.

“If you can help, please contact us via 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 0451 of 20/7.

“This is also a useful reminder to people to take normal crime-prevention steps to look after their property, making sure that any paperwork or other material with personal data on is thoroughly torn up or, if possible, shredded before disposal.”
