A 29-year-old man was attacked while he was out drinking on Friday night.
Police say a fork might have been used in the assault at 11.50pm in Kenilworth Road, St Leonards.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “He suffered two puncture wounds, caused possibly by a fork, requiring treatment at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.”
A 24-year-old man from Beckenham, Kent, was arrested on suspicion of affray and bailed until September 23.
