A man has appeared in court accused of throwing a knife into a crowd of revellers on his way home from Brighton Pride.
James Savage, 21, is also accused of breaking the wrist of a police officer who tried to arrest him.
Brighton Magistrates’ Court was told yesterday that Savage, of Bromley in Kent, had been stopped by British Transport Police officers as he tried to leave Brighton Station on Saturday evening.
He is accused of throwing the knife into a large crowd of passengers – including several children – who were waiting to travel home following the celebrations.
Prosecutors said as the officer tried to control Savage they fell into the barrier, fracturing their wrist.
Savage did not enter any pleas to charges and will be called before Lewes Crown Court at a future date.
Wesley Martin, of Views Wood Pass in Uckfield, ignored a court order not to go to Brighton Pride, got drunk and abused a security guard.
He is banned from entering Brighton and Hove as part of his bail conditions while he awaits trial on domestic violence charges.
Martin, who wept in the dock at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, said his cousin persuaded him “against his better judgement” to go to Brighton.
He was released under the same bail conditions and a fine for being drunk and disorderly was waived after he spent half a day in custody.
Thomas Driscoll of Valley Road, Newhaven is banned from leaving his home under the conditions of his bail for an allegation of burglary.
But the 24-year-old was arrested in Marine Parade, Brighton, at 10.20pm on Saturday.
He admitted breaching his bail conditions but claimed he had been left stranded after falling out with a friend.
His curfew was extended to 9pm to 6am.
