A woman who danced in the Festival Of Britain has unearthed press cuttings documenting the event.
The festival, which ended 63 years ago yesterday, came to Brighton as part of a national exhibition in 1951.
Margaret Noakes, 81, of Cuckmere Way, Hollingbury, was 18 years old when she danced as part of the festival in Preston Park.
Her cuttings from The Argus, then Evening Argus, show scores of people in costume for the occasion.
The festival was organised by the government as a way of instilling a feeling of recovery after the Second World War, with the Royal Society of Arts looking to commemorate the centenary of the 1851 Great Exhibition.
