An emergency services open day has been cancelled due to the threat of ex tropical storm Bertha.

Sussex Police have announced 999 day, due to take place on Hove Lawns on Sunday, has now been cancelled due to a forecast of strong winds and heavy rain.

Inspector Richard Delacour said: "I know people will be disappointed but the weather which is forecast for tomorrow means it will be very wet.

"We are also expecting very strong winds and as Hove Lawns are right on the seafront it would be very exposed to the elements and could be dangerous for anyone visiting or taking part."

The Met Office is currently forecasting a 60% to 70% remnants of the hurricane will make landfall along the south coast.
