Sir Bradley Wiggins will ride through Sussex in defence of his Tour of Britain title next month.
The 2012 Tour de France champion and multiple Olympic gold medal winner will miss the prestigious Vuelta a Espana (Tour of Spain) to compete in the race.
Sir Dave Brailsford, team principal of Team Sky, confirmed the news to BBC Sport yesterday.
Wiggins won the race last year and will go into this year’s edition as one of the favourites.
The Tour of Britain will take place from September 7-14 - with the race heading through Sussex on September 13.
The penultimate stage will see the riders start in Camberley in Surrey before finishing 226km later on Brighton seafront.
Riders will go through Horsham, Haywards Heath, Uckfield, Eastbourne, Seaford and Newhaven.
