DEVELOPERS want to create a “green oasis” next to a new building in the heart of the city centre.
An application has been submitted to Brighton and Hove City Council to demolish three shop units in Ship Street Gardens, Brighton, to create a a two-storey business space for rent.
The current shops are based in a narrow alley running between Ship Street and Middle Street which was part of the original Brighthelmstone before it became Brighton.
Developers say that the two storey building will be lower than the existing 1920s building, adjoining Ship Street Gardens.
They also aim to create a ‘green oasis’ with the dense planting of trees, shrubs and climbing plants.
A decision is expected next month.
