The tail end of Hurricane Bertha failed to deter visitors from discovering a hidden garden while raising money for charity.
As the remnants of the storm battered the coast at the weekend, the owners of a home in Belton Close, Brighton, opened their garden to 130 visitors.
Owners Steve Bustin and John Williams raised more than £1,000 for blood cancer charity MPD Voice, through entry fees and sales from a selection of refreshments, home-made produce and plants.
Mr Bustin said: “The event went really well. We were a bit worried about the weather but we are a hardy bunch and we beat Bertha.
“We were really thrilled with the turnout and had more visitors than we expected. We’ve had such a fantastic summer working in and enjoying the garden so we wanted to share it with as many people as possible.”
