Police are providing motorcycle chains on the cheap to prevent bike thefts.
Sussex Police, Hastings Borough Council and Hastings Motorcycles have teamed up to sell 50 of the padlock chains for £5 each, instead of their normal £40 price tag.
The owners of motorbikes of between 50cc and 125cc can walk into the front office of Hastings Police Station in Bohemia Road, St Leonards, where the locks are available on a first come, first served basis.
They should supply their V5 document, certificate of insurance and driving licence and they will be given a voucher to exchange at Hastings Motorcycles in Beaconsfield Road, Hastings.
The office is open from Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 8pm.
Sergeant Dave Townsend, from Hastings neighbourhood policing team, said: “This is just one of the many options we are using to reduce the number of motorcycle thefts in our town.
“The neighbourhood policing team is working hard to educate, especially young motorcycle riders, about crime prevention techniques to prevent them from becoming victims of crime.”
