Lets hope if you're injured in anyway in the future, the first thing the emergency services don't think about is the cost of ensuring your injuries are treated in the most appropriate way. With luck they will use all resources at their disposal. Or, is it just cyclists who don't deserve full use of the ambulance service because of cost? Let's extrapolate shall we? Who, in your opinion deserves the use of all available resources and who should be short changed?

Like Andy R was proven to be?

Good to see that you weren't able to disagree with my comment about them.

Cyclists are always being airlifted here, there and everywhere. Usually, it's their fault. Facts, I'm afraid.

Well done! I think it's a very good idea to have a list of those of deserve top-notch medical response and those who are less deserving...

(Incidentally, may I congratulate you on your correct usage of 'extrapolate' - very rare on this site.)

Firstly, I hope the cyclist makes a speedy recovery.

I'd genuinely like to know the source of Youlikemyjugs facts as they seem to be at odds with this:

http://www.thetimes.
co.uk/tto/public/cyc
lesafety/article3758
677.ece
"More than two thirds of all crashes between drivers and cyclists in Central London are the fault of the motorist, research indicates."

and this:

http://www.theguardi
an.com/lifeandstyle/
2009/dec/15/cycling-
bike-accidents-study

"With adult cyclists, police found the driver solely responsible in about 60%-75% of all cases, and riders solely at fault 17%-25% of the time."

Comments like that should be left in the playground.

Adults certainly don't use it because it's not true.

As a relative of the cyclist I experienced one of the most terrifying days I have ever had yesterday. It has really disappointed me tonight to see some of these comments. Why are so many of you so quick to judge and blame the cyclist when you do not know the facts? Perhaps you should think again before making such judgemental and upsetting comments. Everyone of us deserves to receive life saving care, the cost is completely irrelevant.
