A 76-year-old woman was bitten by a dog, causing a cut and bruising.
The biting happened in Silchester Road, St Leonards, on Wednesday, July 30.
The victim was going to a newsagents at 10.30am when she was bitten on her leg by a brown or tan-coloured Staffie-type dog that tied up outside.
The owner came out the shop and left with the dog.
He is described as a white man, aged 20 to 25, and of slim build.
PC Antz Clarke said: "If you saw the victim get bitten by the dog or you know who the dog belongs to please get in touch."
