CYCLISTS were put through their paces in a 13-hour bike ride to raise £6,000 for charity.

The Ride for Life challenge took place at the Withdean Sports Complex in aid of Cancer Research UK.

A team of 12 indoor cycling instructors led 12 different rides, ranging from 45 to 90 minutes during the day and 150 riders took part.

Last year the annual event, organised by personal trainer Rick Goodchild, raised more than £12,000 but the team was still delighted with this year’s effort.

All the money will be used in research carried out at the Sussex University campus laboratories funded by the charity.

Mr Goodchild said the event was a great opportunity for cycling fans to raise money for a worthwhile cause and take part in a workout with friends.
