A man has gone to prison and three other people have received suspended prison sentences, for their parts in a brutal assault on a man on his own home in Lancing last year.
Gerard Willeter, 56, of St Georges Road, Worthing, was sentenced to three years imprisonment having been found guilty of conspiracy to cause a 54-year old man grievous bodily harm at the man's home in Kings Road, Lancing.
Linda Wheatley, 44, of West End Way, Lancing, the man's wife, was sentenced to two years imprisonment suspended for two years having been found guilty of the same offence, as were the victims stepsons, Michael Pond, 18, and Martin Pond, 21, both of Kings Road.
A Sussex Police spokesman described the attack as "brutal".
Shortly after 2am on Saturday 23 March last year police were called to Worthing Hospital where the victim had made his own way there was being treated for head injuries sustained during the attack at his then address in Kings Road, Lancing, a short while beforehand. He was discharged after treatment.
They were sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on Friday.
