Intruders have made off with "sentimental" items after a flat was burgled.

The burglars entered the flat in Viking Court St Leonards between 10.30am and 4.30pm on Saturday and stole a number of personal items.

Among them was a Jasper Conran cream handbag, a Mark Hill leopard print hairdryer, a silver heart-shaped trinket box with pink lining, a gold necklace with a Canadian maple leaf pendant inscribed "Canada" and pairs of earrings.

Detective Constable Cally Fox said: "The items that were taken were all very sentimental to the owner and we are determined to find them.

"The contents of the trinket box in particular, including sentimental newspaper cuttings, are very important to the victim.

"I would urge anyone who has seen or been offered any of the items to contact us. If you know anything at all, please get in touch."
