Popular actor, TV host and amateur historian Sir Tony Robinson is to delve into Sussex’s history.

The Blackadder star who has a passion for the subject will be visiting Brighton and Hove’s state of the art archive facility The Keep later this month.

As well as housing The Argus’ archives dating back to 1880, The Keep is also home to the records of more than 36,000 World War One soldiers from East Sussex. Members of the public are being invited to attend a talk by the Time Team presenter about researching their own family history.

The event will also feature talks from East Sussex county archivist Elizabeth Hughes and family history expert Brad Argent from Ancestry.co.uk.

Sir Tony will also visit Brighton’s war memorial on his visit to the city on August 28.
