AIRBOURNE is celebrating a record-breaking year after drawing its biggest crowd ever.

The Eastbourne-based air show drew crowds of hundreds of thousands to the seafront to get a glimpse of the Red Arrows 50th anniversary display, the first formation flight of two Lancaster bombers in over 50 years.

Councillor Carolyn Heaps, Eastbourne Borough Council cabinet member for tourism and leisure, said: “This has been an amazing year for Airbourne and a wonderful showcase for the town after what has been a very difficult few weeks.

“The Lancaster formation was just awesome and an emotional experience for many people.

“I am delighted we were able to share this with some very special veterans on Thursday and Friday, as well as the many thousands of people attending the show.”

Air show fans from more than 60 countries watched Airbourne streamed live online with over 1,000 viewers of the show at any one time.

Airbourne returns from 13 to 16 August 2015. For more information visit eastbourneairshow.com
