ARGUS staff are preparing for the ride of their lives as they take on the Sussex stage of next month’s Tour of Britain.

Retail sales co-ordinator Howie Blanks will lead the team as they take on the 90-mile jaunt from Horsham to Brighton.

The likes of Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will follow the same route from Camberley in Surrey on September 13.

Obstacles are Beachy Head, Ditchling Beacon and the devilishly steep Bear Road in Brighton – only a mile or so from the finish.

The group, which includes news reporter Ben James, feature writer Dom Smith and assistant news editor Arron Hendy, will raise cash for The Argus Appeal.

Ben said: “We are all dreading it, to be honest. It will be tough, especially given the hills between Eastbourne and the finish line, but we are determined to complete it for a very good cause.”
