Brighton's brilliant baker battled her way through another episode of The Great British Bake Off last night – rising to the challenge of bread week.
Ten remaining contestants on the hit BBC offering went head-to-head in the kitchen over a series of three challenges in episode three of the show.
While the majority competitors crumbled like pastry when asked to bake 12 rye rolls in the first challenge – a lack of gluten proving the bogeyman, apparently - Brighton girl Kate’s orange and cardamom rolls were praised by judge Paul Hollywood as having “great flavour”.
She continued the good work when tackling the technical challenge – baking ciabatta.
Using the judges’ own recipes, the mother-of-one impressed with her patient bake and left the other contestants picking up the pieces – or rather crumbs – of their floundering efforts.
It was no doubt Kate’s week, even if an undercooked prosciutto, olive and coriander roll slightly blotted her baking tray at the final hurdle.
Making their way out the kitchen door never to return was flamboyant Jordan – aided by his liquid-mush-resembling strawberry and raspberry cheesecake brioche.
The contestants will be hoping to sweeten up the judges in time for desert week next Wednesday.
