A TV presenter will join motoring enthusiasts on a road trip to raise money for an air ambulance charity.

The 2014 Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance drive from Shoreham Airport to Tulleys Farm in Crawley will take place on Sunday.

Sky TV motorsport presenter Gemma Scott will join the drive to the farm where she will draw a raffle. As part of the fun day at Tulleys, there will also be emergency service displays, craft stalls and a hog roast.

Organiser Samantha Hill, 34, said: “During my nursing career, I’ve seen how important it is to have accident and emergency care brought to the patient’s side after an accident.

“Motorists are the largest air ambulance patient group so a charity event like this makes sense.”

At the fun day there will be two bouncy castles, face painting, a vintage ice-cream van, a special visit from a squad of Star Wars stormtroopers and Air Ambulance mascot Dr Dudley the bear.

For the adults, there will be a jousting attraction in the style of the ITV series Gladiators.

Previous years have seen between 20 and 60 cars and motorcycles take part, but this year Mrs Hill is hoping for more than 80.

She said: “This year, we want to make the event bigger than ever before.

“The day isn’t just for the car-lover and will be a fun day out for a great life-saving cause.

“The trust relies totally on donations. Without people like us, they wouldn’t be able to do what they do.

“Although there will be a lot of classic cars, you don’t need to have one yourself. Come down in your everyday work car and enjoy the day.”

The registration fee is £5 for cars and £2.50 for motorbikes.
