A BONANZA of books is in full swing and children are flocking to hear their favourite stories.

Churchill Square has been hosting Brighton’s Big Summer Read 2014 – a two week book extravaganza which runs at the shopping centre until Sunday.

The centre’s resident storyteller Hemi Yeroham has been on hand every day to regale kids with their favourite tall tales and fairy stories.

A who’s who of guest authors and stars have also been attending featuring names like Sid Sloane from Cbeebies and Chris Bradford, author of the Young Samurai series.

Events will run every day until the finish of the Big Summer Read from 11am to 4pm.

Interactive storytelling treasure hunts, games, story-writing events, book exchange, library corner and a host of lovable characters will be on hand.

Today Brighton-based author Sue Hendra will use her book Spider Sandwiches as inspiration for a variety of fun activities from 2.30pm.

Ms Hendra is known for her best-selling picture book series Wanda and the Alien and has also illustrated Barry the Fish with Fingers and Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell.

Churchill Square’s Big Summer Read continues with a variety of events and activities until August 24.
