SUSSEX’S Kurdish community came out in force to ensure their countrymen do not suffer in silence.
The Sussex Kurdish Community gathered in Churchill Square in Brighton yesterday afternoon to call for urgent action to save their compatriots currently under threat from the terror group Islamic State.
The protest was organised in response to the genocide faced by the Yezidi people in Northern Iraq who have been driven from their homes and on to Mount Sinjar by the marauding troops of the Islamic terror group.
Campaigners said that the Yezidi, whose population totals less than 800,000 people, face genocide for the 73rd time in their long history.
Residents have been asked to donate to an emergency fund set up by Save the Children by phoning 0800 8148 148 or donating online at www.savethechildren.org.uk/where-we-work/middle-east/iraq.
