Flexible working, equal pay and father’s leave for antenatal appointments will be on the agenda at a new HR forum.

Following interest from business owners and HR managers, the forum was set up by Fiona Martin (pictured), director and head of employment law at Martin Searle Solicitors, with Varndean College HR manager Jane Schofield and HR Smart Heidi Rush.

It follows the establishment of the HR Digital Media Group by Fiona Martin six years ago with Wired Sussex and Madgex.

There will also be a debate about the planned introduction of a new system of shared parental leave in 2015 and how this will affect managing maternity and paternity leave in different sectors.

HR Matters is open to anyone with responsibility for personnel and HR issues within their business. This includes administrators, directors, HR assistants and managers.

Jane Schofield said: “This is a great opportunity for those dealing with HR issues to learn from each other and to benefit from employment law updates from Fiona.

“We aim to build a supportive group which is open to sharing best practice.”

It will be held in The Manor on Gardner Street, Brighton, every other month, from September 25 at 8.30am to 11am.
