A motorcyclist killed on the A29 at Bury Hill on Sunday has been named as William Phillip Frederick Ruewell, of West Chiltington Lane, Billingshurst.

The 20-year-old was riding a Honda VFR 800F motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Volvo V40 at about 4.30pm.

The 69-year-old car driver from Bermuda was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed until September 1.

Mr Ruewell's parents Phillip and Barbara have paid tribute to their son saying: "William was our dearly loved only son and a loving brother to Lydia and Ellie.

"He was triumphant over everything except the one thing that claims us all.

"He was our beautiful young man."

The crash happened near the Squire and Horse pub in Bury village, about half a mile south of where a similar fatality occurred on March 30 this year.

Then, Oliver Bird, 37, of Shoreham lost his life in a collision.

A member of staff at the pub said the stretch was known for accidents.

She said: “You only need to google Bury Hill to know how many accidents we get here.”

A Sussex Police spokesman said the motorcyclist, Mr Ruewell, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of Sunday's accident.
