Have a free health check

People across West Sussex are being reminded to make time for a free NHS health check.

The service is available for anyone between 40 and 74 without an existing long-term condition and who has not had a health check in the last five years.

The focus is to prevent or reduce the risk of developing heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and some types of dementia.

West Sussex County Council cabinet member for community wellbeing Christine Field said: “A health check could help to identify an issue before it develops into a problem.

“It takes just 30 minutes and includes a blood pressure check, as well as a finger-prick cholesterol test.

“The tests are simple and straightforward and could help to put your mind at rest.”

The checks, which are confidential, also assess lifestyle factors such as smoking, weight, and physical activity.

The aim is to ensure that people are able to make changes to improve their health in the future.

Appointments must be booked in advance.
