A SEAFRONT restaurant has been named as one of the top 30 best places to eat fish and chips in the country.

The Regency, in King’s Road, Brighton, was picked in the list compiled by The Times newspaper on Saturday.

It was the only establishment in Sussex to make the list.

Emily Sargent, who compiled the rundown, described The Regency as one of the “oldest and most popular” restaurants in the city.

She added: “The Regency always has a long list of local fresh fish paired with spectacular views of the sea and the West Pier.”

It is just a list published in the Sunday Times. In July they did another list and Brighton didn't even feature.

Haven't been here for ages as Mrs Adler isn't a great fan of fish. However, it was always good years ago.

Just had a look at its on-line menu and it says the prices are correct as of 2003 ???

Is does seem quite cheap I suppose.

A nice bit of battered cod served in a decent restaurant has got my mouth watering at only 10:25hrs in the blooming morning !!

hahaha one of the worst restaurants I have had the displeasure of going to. Terrible food and service. Yes it's old and popular, but that doesn't make it a top restaurant.

No. Slow and rude service. Ordered mackeral pate and it came with what I would describe as one slice of white bread.... main course accompanied with tinned veg. I genuinely think it is a shame as the building and location is fantastic, but overriding factor of (lack of) quality of food and terrible service supersedes that.

I stand corrected, although sadly not uncommon for quality of service/dishes to vary from day to day, eating out seems to have changed into a fashionable past-time for IT well to do-trendy types who pay over the odds for mediocrity which is to the detriment of traditional social diners, tend to cook for myself now as do not like being shafted for below par Restaurant experiences, most are pretentious, deep fried dives.

good food and reasonable, shame I and others no longer go since this ridiculous council installed a ridiculous new scheme of 4 sets of traffic lights right outside and now traffic queues all day long mainly for no reason right outside, not nice to eat your seafront fish and chips being oggled at by stationary cars 3 feet away chucking out pollution all over you.
