An army of brides – both male and female – walked six miles in full wedding regalia.

Brighton-based hen party planners Hen Heaven held the event for the third year with all money raised going to Rockinghorse children’s charity.

They set off on Saturday morning from The Smugglers Rest, in Peacehaven, before battling coastal winds whipping their veils on the way to Brighton’s West Pier.

Lynsey Hamp, who works for Hen Heaven, said: “It was a fantastic day and we had a really good response from all the people along the way. It took us about two-and-a-half hours in the end but it was great fun.

“We haven’t counted all the money yet but we think it will be more than £2,000.”

The Brighton-based Rockinghorse helps sick and disabled children across Sussex.

They are the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and also support the Trevor Mann Baby Unit.
