A body of a man found washed up on Brighton beach is not being treated as suspicious.

The body has now been identified by police as that of an 84-year-old from Brighton but a post mortem and formal identification is yet to take place.

Sussex Police said they are not treating the discovery as suspicious.

The body was discovered in the surf yesterday at 9.25am by a member of the public.

Specialist police and coastguard teams moved in to recover it before high tide and a section of the beach near Duke's Mound was cordoned off.
