It was two shouts in two days for a lifeboat station after two boats broke down over the weekend.

The volunteer crews of both Eastbourne lifeboats were launched.

On Saturday afternoon, a 38ft yacht broke down on its way into Sovereign Harbour.

It got into difficulties after a rope inadvertently left trailing in the water became tangled around its propeller.

Eastbourne’s all-weather lifeboat towed the stricken vessel a short distance into the marina’s locks.

On Sunday afternoon, a small fishing boat with two people on board broke down close to the shore in Eastbourne Bay.

Eastbourne’s inshore lifeboat towed it back to the beach where from which it had originally set off.
