IT was all systems go as emergency services were put to the test.
But this day of drama was all under control.
Crowds gathered for the first Burgess Hill 999 Day on Saturday.
Police, fire and ambulance personnel turned out at the World’s End recreation ground in the town to give people a taste of what they get up to on a daily basis.
There were constant displays throughout the day, from cutting people out of cars and chip pan fire demonstrations to police dogs and horses on parade.
The event was opened by Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne, who presented a cheque to Mid Sussex district commander Chief Inspector Simon Beardwell.
