Residents are being asked how they would like to see their neighbourhood improved.

London Road residents have been urged to vote on three proposals to improve their area after an original survey of more than 200 came up with a shortlist of options.

Residents are being asked by Brighton and Hove City Council whether they favour a general clean-up, minor improvements to Preston Circus or improvements to the crossing at Oxford Street and Ann Street. For details on how to take part visit londonroadlat.wordpress.com.

common sense, a massive clean up, a cohesive design plan for shop fronts, no more plastic and flashing LEDS from booze shops. How about trying to make it an extension of north laine with a colour scheme for the properties above shops, so they all have to be painted in shades of pink for instance. How about a new road style layout with shared space and allow cars both ways on weekends, save our tourist the misfortune of driving along the ugly viaduct road. Take out the ugly pedestrian crossings and put in raised zebras like at seven dials, rearrange the traffic blocking bus stops, plant trees, install attractive street lights and seating. most important get rid of the drunks and druggies, or the area will never be safe or nice.

Well said, and I think many people would agree with you.
I wish you were on the Council Committee who make these decisions

"Get rid of the drunks and druggies" - hey the students haven't moved into the old Co-Op yet! Only joking, some good suggestions here but it's definitely moving in the right direction.

Raze it to the ground? Apart from, perhaps, Richer Sounds and Maplins, it's a ****hole – with people to match – both of which are best avoided.

I hear what you are saying, and I, for the most part, agree with you. However, it is handy to have all of them in one place instead of diffused about the City. It means you can, if you are that way inclined, easilly score whatever you need and leave knowing it is on the other side of town from you. You only have to look at the rest of Brighton once Kemp Town was no longer a reservation.

It's the people who make an area what it is.

Sort them out, and you start to solve the problem.

Round up all the druggie/ drunk half way house types placed in the locality and then ship them to Portsmouth. They wont mind as Portsmouth is basically a bigger version of London road.
