POLICE have issued a warning after the ice bucket challenge knocked a Shoreham teenager off his motorbike.

The 19-year-old was riding his red Kawasaki bike in Williams Road, Shoreham, on Wednesday, at around 7.40pm, when his friend threw a bucket of icy water over him.

He came off his bike and suffered minor cuts and bruises to his hands and arm, Sussex Police have said.

Sergeant Stewart Goodwin said: “The ice bucket challenge is currently sweeping the world and it is for very good causes.

“However we ask that if people are going to complete it, they need to do so sensibly and safely. It was not a good idea to do it while he was trying to ride the bike.

"Luckily, he received only some minor cuts but he could have received much worse injuries.”
