PRIME Minister David Cameron has asked to be kept up to date regarding progress on repairs to Eastbourne Pier.
Mr Cameron visited the town days after the fire and pledged £2 million to reduce the impact the pier’s closure will have on tourism and to help traders affected by the blaze.
Since then, he has requested a regular progress report, compiled by Eastbourne Borough Council.
The first has already been sent detailing fundraising efforts, steps to help traders and plans to reopen undamaged parts of the pier by the end of the year.
