JUNIOR badminton players are being urged to see if they have got what it takes to make the step up to regional squads.

East Sussex Junior Badminton Association will be holding trials at Hailsham Community College in Battle Road, Hailsham, on September 21 for youngsters looking to make it into the East Sussex squad.

The trials are open to children born, living or attending school in East Sussex – defined as boroughs and districts of Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes, Wealden and Rother and Brighton.

East Sussex Junior Badminton runs Under-11s, Under-13s, Under-15s and Under-17s and is recruiting for all four.

The Under-11s’ session is held between 9am and 10am and is open to players born on or after January 1, 2004.

The Under-13s’ session is held between 10am and 11am and is open to players born on or after January 1, 2002.

Both the Under-15s and Under-17s sessions are being held between 11am and midday.

The Under-15s session is open to players born on or after January 1, 2000 and the Under-17s session open to players born on or after January 1, 1998.

Parents are asked that players arrive on time, have the correct dress for badminton and have sufficient refreshments.

Players will not be told on the day if they are to be offered a place, but letters will be sent out shortly after the trials.

For successful players, squad training will be held fortnightly on Sundays with session times and venues to be finalised after the trials.

There is a £3 play-in fee and players can turn up on the day.
