Four Gatwick Airport contract workers have been arrested for taking duty-free goods.

Police arrested the four men at the airport after items believed to have been stolen were recovered.

A 22-year-old man from Rye, a 36-year-old man from Oxted in Surrey, a 57-year-old man from St Leonards and a 23-year-old man from Crawley have all been arrested on suspicion of theft by employee.

They have been bailed until November 3 while investigations continue.

The arrests are part of a long-running investigation into the theft of duty-free goods from the airport.

Chief Inspector Andy Kundert said: “There is no suggestion that passengers have been targeted and we are working with Gatwick Airport Limited and airline operators to tackle the issue of theft and to catch those responsible.”
