POLICE have released an e-fit of a man they want to speak to about the burglary of a home.

Jewellery was taken when the house in Church Street, Rudgwick, was broken into on Friday August 22.

A cleaner at the property told police she had answered the door just before midday to a man asking for directions to the Co-op.

She said he was with a woman who stood at the end of the path, and she saw the couple at about 1pm standing outside another house, in the opposite direction of the shop.

The home owner returned at about 6.30pm to find the bedroom drawers had been ransacked.

This man is described as about 60, 5' 6", balding with dark hair and wearing a cream and brown striped top.

The woman he was with is described as in her 40s with long, blond hair.

Detective Constable Chris Merryfield-Day said: "We know this couple were in the area at the time of the break in and may have seen something which could help with our investigation."

Anyone who knows this man or saw anything suspicious in the village is asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or 101 quoting serial 1379 of 22/8.
