Rock fans have already begun queuing to see one of the biggest bands in the world play an intimate gig in Brighton.

The Foo Fighters, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, return to the city this evening to play a surprise club gig at Concorde 2 in Madeira Drive.

Rumours had been circulating the internet ever since the band hinted at a Brighton date on Monday when they Tweeted a picture of a stick of rock and lyrics from the 1974 Queen hit Brighton Rock.

And tonight, after much speculation, up to 600 people will see them play live at one of Brighton's best venues.

They include Jess Forrest, 20, from Brighton, who said: "I've seen them four times but it's always been at massive arenas or stadiums like Cardiff and Wembley, but this should be another beast all together.

"I was sent down here to get tickets yesterday (Tuesday) and spent all day down here so I'm just really chuffed we've been able to come tonight really."

Jess's friend Tom, 20, from Brighton, said: "I'm absolutely buzzing. We were messing around on our laptops and phones for half an hour yesterday to get the tickets.

"I saw them at Reading last year and they were amazing, but this will be extra-special as it should be completely different from an arena performance."
