A CAR sped towards children on scooters before a passenger gets out to attack their dad and flees the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred in Eastbourne on Monday, August 25, at around 5pm.

The black Vauxhall Astra left but returned about 7pm when the children's father approached the car.

The passenger got out of the car and hit the 46-year-old victim on the head and back of his neck with a glass bottle before getting back into the car. The car then drove away clipping the victim and knocking him to the floor.

PC Angie Parfitt said: "The driver of the car is described as a white man in his mid 20s wearing a black jacket with a dark T-shirt underneath. The passenger was also a white man, 5' 7", skinny and in his late teens with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top and dark jeans. The victim suffered a bruised shoulder but was shaken by the incident.
