RINGMER Rovers Under-18s hosted as a dominant Hailsham Youth walked away 5-1 victors leaving the home side still trying to find their first win of the season.

Goals were plenty in the tie under floodlights, with chances even more so.

Hailsham were dominant as soon as they stole possession from Ringmer after they kicked off, taking only two minutes for Hackey Chatfield’s far post corner to find Harvey Sanderson who calmly directed his header in a crowded box passed Rovers’ keeper Todd Cotterill.

Hailsham’s second goal was imminent as they continued to knock on Cotterill’s door with three shots being dealt with within five minutes before the fourth proved decisive.

Chris Seng was the most dangerous looking player on the pitch and showed his skill as he neatly turned, outpaced the final defender and curled the ball into the top right corner.

Ringmer did have their chances breaking into the final third but Hailsham were quickly back defending their lines ready to spring an attack, which started a move in the 24th minute as yet another attack on the home side’s goal by Leon Davidson led to a 3-0 score line at half time.

Ringmer did their strong following proud by coming into the second half a revived side and began to attack with more confidence.

One thing that failed to change was their performance in the box, resorting to long range shots from their strikers.

Hailsham stuck to their game plan and caused panic in Cotterill’s 18-yard box as a low pass managed to get through three defenders and a forward before trickling over the line to make it a four-goal lead.

Things weren’t horrible for Ringmer though, as forward Jamie Stevens was pulled to the ground and awarded a penalty which Bradleigh Jacobs converted comfortably.

It wasn’t enough for the away side though as Chatfield’s hard work earned him the chance he’d been waiting for as he slotted the ball away to make an incredible 5-1 score line.

The score line justified Hailsham’s strike force but not Ringmer’s work rate who still aim to record their first win of the season.
