As term begins after the summer holiday a new headteacher has taken the reins at a college.

Ardingly College has welcomed Ben Figgis as its new headteacher.

Mr Figgis said: “Ardingly has strong Christian values and I was struck by the genuine respect for every individual in the community – for every adult working here as well as every child.”

He emphasised the importance of maintaining strong community links.

“Ardingly was founded as an educational charity and it is important we build on these principles," he said.

“I am interested in finding local schools to work with in educational partnerships, to find an overlap of interests and to work on projects which will be productive for them.”

Mr Figgis was senior deputy head of Oakham School in Rutland for almost 10 years.
