Pupils kicked off their school year with a music workshop held by a community musician.

Students from Hurst Prep School laid down a beat with a high-energy workshop led by Ollie Heath at the Rhythm Master Workshop.

Getting geared up before the start of term, boys and girls gathered round on August 29 as they learnt African drumming, tried beatboxing and learnt how to make percussion instruments out of broom sticks and plastic pan lids.

Head of prep music Mark Travers said: “It was a fantastic way to start the musical year and the children were buzzing with the pace and dynamism of Ollie’s 60-minute workshop.”

Ollie’s Rhythm Master Workshops aim to promote self-belief in children while teaching the rhythmic arts.
