International best-selling author Jung Chang is to give a talk to students about her latest book when she visits a college next month.

The Chinese author will be at Brighton College on October 30.

She made her name with her novel Wild Swans which sold 10 million copies worldwide, despite being banned in her homeland. The book exposed the brutal hardships endured by women in China over the last century.

Brighton College headteacher Richard Cairns said: “It’s a great honour to welcome Dr Chang to the school.

“Our boys and girls start learning Mandarin from the age of five.”
