A city councillor is set to learn whether he will be able to stand as a councillor again at the next election in the upcoming weeks.

A Labour Party appeal hearing into disciplinary proceedings brought against Brighton and Hove City councillor Leigh Farrow, pictured, were held on Tuesday night.

Party officials heard the appeal from the Moulsecoomb and Bevendean Labour councillor and are expected to notify Coun Farrow of their findings later this month.

The disciplinary procedures were launched after Coun Farrow was accused of swearing at fellow Labour councillor Chaun Wilson during a council housing committee meeting in June as she passed on voting instructions from group whip Gill Mitchell.

The suspension of the Moulse-coomb and Bevendean branch of the Brighton and Hove City Labour Party is expected to remain in place until November.

Under the period of the suspension announced last month, the Moulsecoomb and Bevendean branch has not been able to meet, canvas or conduct any formal Labour Party business.
