A man was airlifted to hospital following an accident close to a roundabout.
The 30-year old man from Polegate was flown to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries after the Rover 100 he was driving collided with a Mercedes A160 driven by a 49-year old woman from Chiddingly.
The accident happened in A22 Horney Common Road near to the Lampool Roundabout close to Nutley near Uckfield at 5pm yesterday.
The road was closed for nearly four hours while police and highway staff cleared the scene and began an investigation.
Sussex Road Policing Unit officers want to speak to anyone who saw the driving of a white Seat Leon seen travelling south on the A22 between Nutley and the Lampool Roundabout at the time.
