England has a new backgammon champion.
Peter Christmas, 56, from Fish Lane in Aldwick, near Bognor, won the title of English champion on Sunday in Nottingham.
He fought contestants in five rounds to claim his crown and was awarded £250, a bottle of wine and a trophy.
Mr Christmas has been playing backgammon since he was 12.
He said: “It’s great to have won in my home country.”
He also won the Scottish Open in 2005
