Agents on run to raise funds for hospice

Sam Olliver completed the 10k course in 57:18 minutes having only started running with colleagues Chris Hassett and Joanne Edmonson in January this year. They started running together in order to improve their fitness and motivate each other as a team.

Sam said: “Chestnut Tree House is a brilliant cause, and we couldn’t think of a worthier charity to do our first 10k event for. It was a great experience and I would love to do it again.”

Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice across Sussex and cares for 300 children and young adults with progressive life-limiting conditions. It currently costs more than £3million a year to provide the care services provided by Chestnut Tree House.

Families are never charged for their care, so they rely heavily on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.

The 10k Coastal run is now in its 11th year, and attracts runners from all over the South of England. Thousands of spectators line up along the route to cheer and clap their encouragement creating a fantastic atmosphere.

Jo, property manager at Michael Jones, also thoroughly enjoyed the run, which was helped with a sunny September morning.

She said: “The weather was great, the crowd was amazing and it was an added bonus to be able to raise money and help support a fantastic local charity.”

Chris added: “It became our personal challenge to complete a 10k run in under an hour which we all managed to achieve with the help and support of each other on the day. We all felt quite emotional crossing the finish line.”
