EXPERTS will be on hand to show people how to encourage wildlife into their gardens.

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service [WRAS] is hosting an educational indoor nature trail event.

The founder of East Sussex WRAS Trevor Weeks MBE, who will also be a guest speaker at the event, said: “We have such an array of wildlife in this county and we will be showing people how to encourage wildlife into their gardens in cheap and simple ways.

“It is a really valuable opportunity for people to learn more about the wildlife of Sussex and how we can help to preserve it.

“It will be a celebration of how hard we work in Sussex to preserve the wildlife in this county.

“It will be a really good educational event and students who are doing wildlife conservation work will find it very useful.”

Guest speakers from The British Divers Marine Life Rescue, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service’s specialist Large Animal Rescue team, Sussex Ornithological Society, Sussex Badger Vaccination Project, and the Sussex Mammal Group will discuss wildlife topics.

Gail Austen Price, a PHD Student, will also be speaking on how to identify different species. More speakers are yet to be announced.

There will also be various stalls including wildlife photography, handmade bags, accessories with a wildlife theme, arts and crafts activities – including how to create bee boxes and fat feeder balls that can be made from recycled materials around the home. The event is in aid of East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and will run from 11am – 5pm on October 11 at East Dean village hall.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children including refreshments and a pasta buffet meal.
