A PAEDOPHILE who begged a judge to castrate him has died in prison.

Glen Want, 48, died of natural causes in Lewes Prison this week while serving an indeterminate sentence for abusing a nine-year-old boy.

He was jailed in 2008 after detectives found pictures of him abusing the boy on his computer, along with sickening downloaded images of child abuse involving children as young as one.

In total, more than 11,000 child abuse images were found in a police raid of his property in July 2008. Want, originally from Eastbourne, told a judge he wanted to be chemically castrated to curb his sick urges.

A source at the prison said Want, who used a wheelchair, died of ill health. He had a ‘do not resuscitate’ tattoo.

A Prison Service spokesman said: "HMP Lewes prisoner Glen Want was found unresponsive in his cell at about 7.30am on Wednesday 17 September.

“Paramedics attended and took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8.50am.

"As with all deaths in custody, the Independent Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation."
