A MAJOR road is closed in both directions after a serious accident. 

The crash, on the A21at Sedlescombe is closed, with delays in both directions between between the Marley Lane junction and the A2100 London Road junction, and the B2244 Paygate Road junction. 

This is due to a serious accident involving a lorry, a van, and a car, with debris on the road.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police have closed a number of roads near Sedlescombe after a serious collision.

"A van and a lorry collided close to the junction of the A21 and Marley Lane at about 1.15pm today (Friday 19 September).

"Officers are dealing with the incident and people are urged to avoid the area for the foreseeable future."

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is on the scene. 

There is queuing traffic on the A2100 London Road southbound in John's Cross between the A21 John's Cross Road junction and the A271 North Trade Road junction.

There is a diversion in operation along the A2100 through Battle.

A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "The service was called at 1.17pm. Three ambulances and a response car were sent to the scene. Unfortunately some of the people involved in the accident have been seriously injured."
