DELAYS are expected on a train route into Sussex this morning. 29/9

Southern Rail has said its 7.17am service from London Victoria to Southampton Central, which stops at stations including Gatwick and Horsham, is running ten minutes later due to engineer works which over ran.

But a spokesman said the train was "running fast" to make up time.

The work, which was taking place in Haywards Heath, means services between Three Bridges and Brighton, Haywards Heath, Lewes, and Worthing are also affected.

A Southern Rail spokesman said: " Journeys may be delayed up to 20 mins, altered or cancelled at short notice. Apologies for any inconvenience."

Some services are returning to normal but delays could continue until 8.30am.

South West Trains are accepting tickets between London and Portsmouth until 8am.

07:50 Brighton to Littlehampton is 10 mins late and running fast Brighton - Worthing due to earlier over-running engineering works.

08:17 London Victoria to Littlehampton will be 8 instead of 12 coaches between London Victoria and & Haywards Heath.
