Scotland Yard officers have raided the seafront home of radio DJ as they investigate claims of sexual assaults dating back a number of years.

Metropolitan Police officers raided the East Preston home of DJ Neil Fox this morning after receiving allegations of “historic” sexual assaults on two women.

Tonight, a Metropolitan Police official said they were unable to confirm whether the allegations related incidents that happened at the Sussex home of the DJ or when the assaults are alleged to have taken place.

Officers arrested the 53-year-old on suspicion of historical sex offences moments after he had finished presenting his Magic breakfast radio show in London this morning.

The former Pop Idol judge was quizzed at a central London police station over claims he assaulted two women.

Scotland Yard detectives also searched an address in Chelsea, West London, as part of the investigation into alleged historical sex offences.

The arrest is not part of Operation Yewtree, the probe into allegations of historical abuse sparked by the Jimmy Savile scandal.

The DJ, who rose to fame as a radio DJ in 1990s on Capital FM, caused quite a stir when he and his wife bought a £700,000 property in East Preston in 2008 and announced his intention to knock it down and replace it with a prefabricated house.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said last night: "Officers did make an arrest of a 53-year-old man following allegations of historic sexual assault against two women.

“Officers have searched an address in the Littlehampton area and a man was arrested at a business address in West London.

“A man is in custody at the moment.”
